The Washington Capitals' American Hockey League affiliate has officially set a world record for their annual Teddy Bear Toss.

The Washington Capitals' American Hockey League affiliate, the Hershey Bears, held their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday as they took on Lehigh Valley Phantoms in what turned out to be an historic afternoon.

Just over four minutes into the middle frame, Bears forward Bogdan Trineyev scored the game's opening goal which put the over 10,000 fans in attendance at Giant Arena into a frenzy, throwing their stuffed animals onto the ice.

After the teddy bears and other stuffed animals were cleared off the ice, the game continued and the Hershey Bears walked away with a big 3-2 win in overtime over their state rivals, Lehigh Valley.

Once the game was over, the Hershey Bears put out a statement on their social media accounts announcing that they've set a new franchise and world record for the about of stuffed animals that were thrown onto the ice - 74,599.

"The generosity of Bear Nation is unmatched - a new franchise and hockey record has been set! 🧸🥺" The Bears said.

Stories like this are always great to hear, especially when all of those stuffed animals will be going to kids and others in need in the Hershey, Pennsylvania and surrounding areas.
