Former NHLer passes away at 52
Former Washington Capital and NHL enforcer Chris Simon Passes At 52
There is sad news to report in the hockey world today as former NHLer Chris Simon has passed away at the age of 52.
Selected 25th overall during the 1990 NHL draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. The notorious enforcer would play 782 NHL games scoring 144 goals, 305 points and ammassing a whopping 1,824 penalty minutes. Simon played for the Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche, Washington Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Calgary Flames New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild.
Simon last placed professionally during the 2012-13 season with Novokuznetsk Metallurg in the KHL.
