The Toronto Maple Leafs are playing the Vancouver Canucks in Vancouver tonight, near the end of the first period, one of the Leafs star forward gets injured.
As the first period was winding down with under two monies left, Auston Matthews attempts to block a shot from Canucks defender Noah Juulsen, take a look:
Matthews needed help off the ice after taking the shot to the inside of the knee after staying down on the ice for a little bit, the training staff was able to help Matthews down the tunnel.
This could potentially be a huge loss for the Leafs depending on whether or not Matthews is able to return to the game.
Matthews, the league leader among forwards in blocked shots this season is no stranger to sacrificing his body, this shot however caught him in a really bad spot.
Matthews has returned to the Toronto bench early in the second period
