Last night the Chicago Blackhawks faced off against the New Jersey Devils in what ended up being a very physical game. In the 1st period, Blackhawks' rookie Connor Bedard received a huge hit for the first time in his career. The hit, which was delivered by Devils defender, Brendan Smith left Bedard shaken and clutching his face.

Bedard didn't return to the game and obviously Blackhawks fans were concerned. After the game Blackhawks provided an update on Bedard's health, but gave little details. Today Scott Powers who covers the Hawks provided information on the injury.
There is currently no timeline on how long Bedard will be out, but it could see him miss anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks depending on severity. Upon returning, Bedard may have to dawn the fish bowl or full cage. Hopefully Bedard makes a quick and full recovery.
The Blackhawks announced both Bedard and Nick Foligno have been placed on injured reserved. Leaving an already depleted roster, in an even worse position.
