Minnesota Wild lose key forward right before playoffs

The Minnesota Wild have been a pleasant surprise for many this season, while not many expected expected them not to do very much, they've clinched a playoff birth.

Just days before the playoffs as set to begin however, it appears the wild are dealt a huge blow due to injury according to Michael Russo of The Athletic, take a look

Joel Eriksson Ek is week to week with a lower body injury. Absolutely devastating to a team with little center depth. Oskar Sundqvist (lower body) is day to day.

Again, sounds like Kirill Kaprizov is on verge of return. Wild will need a forward from Iowa

Joel Eriksson Ek, 26, has had a fantastic season in Minnesota this year, collecting 23 goals and 38 assists for a total of 61 points in 78 games. He's been massive for a wild team who lack centre depth.

The silver lining here is that it looks like the Wild will get Kirill Kaprizov will make his return to game action tomorrow after being out since March 8th. Still with the playoffs around the corner, this injury is tough to stomach.
