NHL insider Elliotte Friedman gave us an update on Cale Makar's eligibility for Team Canada at the Four Nations faceoff today.

Team Canada is on the verge of elimination from the Four Nations faceoff after their loss to the United States last night.

Cale Makar's absence was noticeable as the team mustered just one goal in the 3-1 loss.

Apparently, not playing in the contest was one of the harder decisions Makar has had to make in his professional career.

Now the blueliner is dedicating himself to getting back on the ice ahead of tomorrow's must-win game versus Finland.

In Makar's absence last night, Team Canada called upon Thomas Harley, an up-and-coming defenseman for the Dallas Stars who has put up terrific results this year.

Harley played well in the loss, but his status as well as Makar's was in question immediately after the game as he was only with the team on an emergency basis.

Luckily, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman gave us some clarity on that matter just moments ago.

Harley now appears to be a full-fledged member of the team, and will be able to play tomorrow afternoon regardless of whether or not Makar is in the lineup.

He also confirmed that Makar is once again a game-time-decision.

Hopefully, Makar will be well enough to return to the ice for Team Canada tomorrow.

He was practicing with the team in Boston this morning, which is a good sign.

Be sure to tune in to the Four Nations faceoff games tomorrow to see who will face the United States in the final.
