Video Surfaces Revealing Possible Cause of Charlie McAvoy's Injury at the Four Nations
Team USA is missing one of their key pieces in Charlie McAvoy for the Four Nations Finale, and now we know exactly where his brutal injury occurred, with the veteran defenseman reportedly banged up before the USA's game against Team Canada that drew headlines all around the world.
After going 2-1-0 during the Four Nations round robin phase, Team USA now finds themselves in the Championship game against their familiar foes in Team Canada, but ahead of that game, they've already ruled out star defenseman Charlie McAvoy with an upper-body injury.
It was originally unclear exactly where the injury occurred, but now fans have found footage on social media of a hit delivered by Joel Armia of Team Finland during the first game of the tournament for the States, and it's clear this is where the injury issue began.
With a cross-check to the back, McAvoy went crashing into the posts as the United States held a dominant 5-1 lead over Finland, and while he was able to play against Canada, the injury got worse upon the teams return to Boston, and ultimately he was ruled out of the finale, with the Bruins not happy with how this was handled.
Despite the injury, McAvoy starred against Team Canada in the 3-1 victory, making physical plays throughout the game, with very few people on the outside looking in even realizing that the veteran blue liner was even injured in the first place.
Ultimately, this is now an injury that could effect the Bruins chances at making a Stanley Cup Playoffs push this season, and while most hockey players would fight through this type of injury for their country, it just wasn't handled well in McAvoy's case.
