Jets Namestikov hit with slapshot forced to leave game
A scary moment occurred just now during Game 4 of the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets game as Jets player Vlad Namestikov was struck in the head by a slap shot and had to leave the game.
The puck had been shot by one of his own teammates and he was unable to get out of the way. The stretcher had been brought out to remove him, but he got up under his own power and left the playing surface.
Scary moment as Vlad Namestnikov is struck in the head by a slap shot and exits the game
You never want to see a player get hurt and in that fashion is even worse. Hopefully he will be okay to return later in the series.
These sorts of incidents bring out those who talk about player safety and whether the game needs improvements, but with something like that, which was a fluke there is not much more you can do.
Above all else, you have to hope Namestnikov is okay, the positive of this is that he was able to skate off under his own power, especially after the training staff appeared to call for more medical attention. It could've been worse, thankfully it was not.
