14 players have landed on the waiver wire for Saturday, October 5th, nearly 48 hours until the opening night roster submission deadline.

In a matter of days, teams around the National Hockey League will need to submit their respective rosters for opening night and in order to assign some of those players to the minors, they need to go through waivers.

Yesterday, a total of 25 landed on the wire and many were wondering if Samuel Poulin, Pittsburgh's first round pick in 2019 would clear. Well, we got our answer today as it appears he has, but another Penguins player has been claimed. According to Chris Johnston of TSN, the Colorado Avalanche have claimed John Ludvig off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, on Saturday afternoon, a total of 14 players were placed on the waiver wire for the purpose of being assigned to the American Hockey League, who had their training camps begin earlier this week.

Oscar Dansk (Anaheim Ducks)
T.J. Tynan (Colorado Avalanche)
Chris Wagner (Colorado Avalanche)
Kyle Capobianco (Dallas Stars)
Magnus Hellberg (Dallas Stars)
Cameron Hughes (Dallas Stars)
Kole Lind (Dallas Stars)
Alexander Petrovic (Dallas Stars)
Emilio Pettersen (Dallas Stars)
Matt Kiersted (Florida Panthers)
Ben Jones (Minnesota Wild)
Connor Mackey (New York Rangers)
John Hayden (Seattle Kraken)
Josh Mahura (Seattle Kraken)

It's expected to be quite busy on the wire on Sunday as it's the final day for team's to place players on waivers ahead of the NHL's opening night roster submission deadline at 5 pm ET on Monday.

For Saturday's crop of players on waivers, we'll have to wait until Sunday at 2 pm ET to see if anyone is claimed or if they'll be assigned to the American Hockey League. The San Jose Sharks get the first crack at making a waiver claim as they finished last in the NHL in the 2023-24 season. They'll have first dibs on waiver claims until November 1st.
