The Ottawa Senators have placed a 27-year-old forward on waivers on Tuesday in a surprising move to send him to the AHL.

The waiver wire continued to be active on Tuesday, as the Ottawa Senators got into the mix one day after a comeback win over the Nashville Predators.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Senators have placed 27-year-old forward Rourke Chartier on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the American Hockey League's Belleville Senators.

"Chartier (OTT) on waivers" Friedman said in a post on X.

Chartier, 27, was signed by the Ottawa Senators in July 2022 and has spent the entire 2023-24 season in the NHL with them until this points. In 34 games this season, the Saskatoon native has three points (one goal, two assists), 14 penalty minutes and is a minus-three.

In other related news, Devin Shore of the Seattle Kraken has cleared waivers and will be assigned to the American Hockey League's Coachella Valley Firebirds. Shore has appeared in 21 games with Seattle this season where he's put up four points (one goal, three assists).
