Arizona Coyotes defender cheap shots Evgeni Malkin's knee
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Arizona Coyotes are currently playing tonight in Pittsburgh. In the first 5 minute of the game the Penguins were able to take a 3-0 lead. With his team already chasing the game, veteran defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere tried to change the momentum of the game.
After Evgeni Malkin carries the puck into the Arizona zone, Gostisbehere closes the gap and hits Malkin extremely low. Before the hit the puck had been knocked away from Malkin. The hit was clearly unexpected by Malkin.
After the hit Malkin engaged with Nick Ritchie as tempers flared. On the play Ritchie received a double minor for roughing, while Malkin received 2 minutes of his own. Gostisbehere was not penalized on this play despite his hit being to the knee or on a player without the puck.
