According to new reports, Coyotes players have lodged complaints against the club for violating terms of the CBA regarding to travel and hospitality. The complaint specifically cites sub-standard travel, lodging, and logistics as primary concerns by the players.
From an organization that was just evicted from their previous arena after defaulting on rent payments, relocated to a University arena, then had their next permanent home in Tempe vetoed by a referendum, the Coyotes are not functioning like an NHL team in any capacity right now. The tweet above jokes that the team flies economy and stays in lower class hotels, but that could actually be the case.
It's situations like this which caused their most recent first round draft pick, Logan Cooley, opting to return to college instead of going professional, citing concerns about the future of the team.
There had previously been reports that relocation this summer was possible, to a new NHL location like Houston, Salt Lake City, or Quebec City, but as always it seems Gary Bettman will do everything to keep the team in Arizona for the foreseeable future, even if they continue to play at Arizona State University. At the time being, the Coyotes will return to Mullet Arena for the upcoming year.
