The Brandon Hagel trade this afternoon brought a haul of picks and prospects to the Blackhawks. Seeing the price Brandon Hagel was able to fetch, now the Blackhawks are reportedly exploring trading both of their superstars, Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat.
Hagel, 23 years old and performing well on a team friendly contract, was able to get the Blackhawks 2 first round picks and two young players. With that in mind, the returns for Kane and DeBrincat would be astronomical. One, a franchise legend and perhaps the best American player of all time, and the other a young perennial 40 goal threat. To think both could be traded is insane, but former General Manager and NHL Network Analyst Brian Lawton is reporting it could happen.
Lawton says that if one of these two superstars is to be traded, expect the other to be traded shortly after as well. This indicates new Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson is entering a scorched-earth rebuild. With the assets these two players could return, the Blackhawks could once again be a dynasty team in short order.
