NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has reported that four players have been placed on waivers today by their respective teams.
The players on waivers are Jordan Oesterle of the Boston Bruins, Jesse Puljujarvi of the Florida Panthers, Jakub Vrana of the Washington Capitals, and Christian Fischer of the Detroit Red Wings.
The most shocking of them all is likely Puljujarvi, as he was a former 4th overall pick by the Edmonton Oilers back in 2016, and his career simply has not been able to take off and he has not been living up to all of that initial potential he had.
Puljujarvi has played in 26 games this year, where he has managed only three goals and six assists for a total of nine points. In his 382 career games, he has scored a total of 57 goals and 70 assists, for a total of 127 points.
Oesterle only has one goal and five assists in 22 games this season, and a career total of 92 points in 393 games. He went undrafted and began his career with the Oilers, just like Puljujarvi.
Vrana, like Puljujarvi, was also a first-round pick when he was selected by the Capitals in 2014. He has seven goals and 11 points in 26 games. He has a career total of 220 points in 393 games.
And finally, Fischer played in 45 games this season and managed just one goal and six assists. In his career 522 games played, he has notched 62 goals and 75 assists for 137 points.
We will know in less than 24 hours if any one of these players have been claimed.
