With the NHL Trade Deadline in the past, we now enter into the final stretch of the regular season. Injuries are part of the game, but getting news like this isn't something teams want to hear post-deadline. The St Louis Blues just announced that they will be without one of their top defenceman in Tory Krug for the foreseeable future.
The injury occurred during Tuesday night's game versus the Washington Capitals, and has been labeled as an upper body injury. The incident occurred midway through the second period, Krug left the game and did not return. The Blues sit 3rd in the Central division with 79 points with the Nashville Predators right behind them with 78 points. So losing a player of Krug's caliber comes at a terrible time.
The 30-year-old defenceman has 8 goals and 27 assists in 57 games with the Blues this season and has a plus/minus of +24. There is no word yet on who Blues GM, Doug Armstrong will call up to fill Krug's spot. The Blues are hoping for Krug to return as soon as possible as they are hoping to take another run at the Stanley Cup this season.
