Boston Bruins refused to trade a player after multiple trade requests and now he explains how he feels about it
Players asking for trades is definitely part of the business of hockey. Despite being happy on a team there can often be outside influences that cause players to request a trade. That's exactly what happened to the Boston Bruins and forward Jake DeBrusk.
Over the past two seasons DeBrusk made a request to Bruins' management on multiple occasions that he wanted a fresh start elsewhere. However, the Bruins held firm that they'd only deal the forward IF they received a viable package that made sense to them. That package never materialized and the Bruins ultimately decided to keep DeBrusk in Boston.
Now DeBrusk has undergone a full 180 and loves being in Boston. Recently DeBrusk spoke out for the first time about how he felt, not having been dealt by the Bruins.
I felt lucky to be here everyday...I was just really grateful for the opportunity.
However, Bruins fans are skeptical of DeBrusk and some of the immediate comments pointed out how things in Boston could change for him this season.

Yea we'll see about that - now that 37 isn't dishing you the puck let's see how well you produce.

Ok but his (& others) whining led to Cassidy being traded & Vegas winning the cup while the Bs exit in the 1st round to a lesser team partly due to questionable coaching calls how's that working out?!?! DeBrusk should've been traded, period!

I woulda rather kept Cassidy than Debrusk
It will be interesting to see how things play out this season in Boston, but only time will tell if DeBrusk has taken his trade request off the table permanently or if he was only happy to stay when things were going well in Boston.
