Breaking - Buffalo Sabres re-sign Rasmus Dahlin long term
The Buffalo Sabres are a good young team that are slowly trying to put the pieces together to make the playoffs. It started with Rasmus Dahlin and continued from there.
Now, according to the Sabres, they have re-signed their franchise cornerstone to a long deal beginning at the start of the 2024-25 season.
EIGHT. MORE. YEARS. 😤
We have signed defenseman Rasmus Dahlin to an eight-year contract extension with an AAV of $11 million.
Dahlin who was the 1st overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft has signed an 8-year extension that carries an AAV of 11 million dollars.
The 23-year-old defender has played in 355 NHL games collecting 233 points in that time including 73 points last season in what was considered his breakout year.
This was the last piece of the Sabres core they needed to lock up and even though 11M is a little high per season, it's not unrealistic to think Dahlin will be worth it before long.
Of note, this also makes Dahlin the second highest paid defender in the NHL.
