Breaking News - Ottawa Senators HAVE to trade Matt Murray and he CAN'T be bought out
The Ottawa Senators have been in conversation with the Toronto Maple Leafs in hopes of making a trade. There has seemed to have been a level of desperation on the Senators part to get the deal done and now it appears we know why.
According to Elliotte Friedman there is far more to this than meets the eye.
#UPDATE - Its believed that Murray was interested in Toronto there's a lot of history between Murray and Toronto. Murray has not been cleared to play yet still, so he's not eligible to get bought out, I think we're waiting for a medical by the Leafs now [@FriedgeHNIC] #GoSensGo
This news makes it much more intriguing to see Ottawa trying to get a deal done. The Senators are looking to clear cap space to try and take a run at some high end free agents and this move would allow them to do that.
If the Senators are unable to move Murray they will also be forced to carry 3 goalies on their roster or risk losing someone to waivers.
