We are just a couple days away from the NHL Free Agent Frenzy. One name that is going to garner a lot of attention is pending unrestricted free agent Claude Giroux.
Giroux, 34, had an eventful season from the of beginning, straight through to the end. Giroux began the year with the Philadelphia Flyers before being acquired by the Florida Panthers at the Trade Deadline. Giroux finished the season scoring 21 goals and 44 assists in 75 games last season.
With Giroux testing free agency for the first time in his career it appears there are two favourites to land his services. Giroux appears interested in returning to Florida or possibly returning home to play in Ottawa.
#UPDATE - Giroux and the Panthers have not been able to make the money line up (so far). The next best option for Giroux might be Ottawa. The #GoSensGo are looking to follow their trade for Debrincat with a big splash in FA. [@reporterchris via northstarbets]
The Panthers still have some time to make a deal before Wednesday at noon when the rest of the league can make an offer, but if Giroux was going to reach a deal with the Panthers it probably would have happened by now.
