Breaking News - Philadelphia Flyers fire GM and name a replacement
Where there is smoke there is fire. Over the past week there has been a ton of smoke surrounding the Philadelphia Flyers and current General Manager Chuck Fletcher. After not making a move to shed some of his unrestricted free agents at the deadline, it appears Fletcher's time is up.
Rumors have swirled that the Flyers were looking to make major changes, but today according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Flyers will finally pull the trigger.
According to Pagnotta, sources within the organization believe former player and current advisor to the GM, Daniel Briere is the most likely candidate to take over the job.
The Flyers are on the way to missing the playoffs for a 3rd consecutive season under Fletcher and have been nothing short of a tire fire for the last two years. Here is hoping if he's named GM, Briere can restore some of the respect around the Flyers name.
