Breaking News - Senators announce passing of owner Eugene Melnyk
The Ottawa Senators just announced via their Twitter account the passing of team owner, Eugene Melnyk.
It is with great sadness that the family of Eugene Melnyk and the Ottawa Senators hockey organization announce his passing on March 28, 2022 after an illness he faced with determination and courage.
Melnyk who was heralded for saving the Senators in 2003, had lost some favour with the community over the years but was still a major part of the City of Ottawa. Recently, Melnyk had also taken on a role in helping his native Ukraine in anyway he could.
Eugene Melnyk was 62-years-old.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Melnyk Family and the Senators organization.
