Well, that time has finally come, after a season of rumours swirling and reports that Bruce Boudreau would be replaced, the Vancouver Canucks have finally put him out of his misery.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman the Canucks have fired Bruce Boudreau and replaced him with Rick Tocchet in a move that was written on the wall for some time now.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau and assistant coach Trent Cull have been relived of their duties.

Rick Tocchet has been hired as the 21st head coach in franchise history. Adam Foote has been named assistant coach and Sergei Gonchar has been hired as a defensive development coach

This is probably the worst kept secret on all of hockey. Shame on the Vancouver Canucks organization as a whole and every single person involved in the handling of this situation.

Tocchet had been rumoured to be the next head coach for some time now, if the report is true that Tocchet needed to wait his weeks notice while working for TNT, it's possible this was dons before Christmas according to Sean Shapiro of EP Rinkside.

While the Vancouver Canucks has wished Boudreau well, this will be a black mark on their history as a team for sure.

This was horrendously handled, at least now, Boudreau has been put out of his misery.
