Bruce Boudreau has had enough calls his team 'mentally weak'
The Vancouver Canucks are off to a bad start this season. After last nights loss to the Washington Capitals 6-4, that is three consecutive losses on their East coast road trip. Vancouver has struggled to protect leads in all three games. Now there is a sense of alarm, urgency, and frustration with the organization already. There was a players only meeting after last night loss. No doubt things need to turn around quickly in Vancouver. Getting off to a bad start early in the year can be very tough to overcome and the Pacific division has plenty of good teams.
What's just as troubling was head coach Bruce Boudreau's comments after the game. He stated that the team is «mentally weak» right now. Not exactly what you want to hear your coach say three games into the season. In last nights contest, Vancouver was up 4-2 going into the third period. Washington scored four straight goals to cruise to victory. Certainly, a period that Vancouver would like to have back.
Last year the Canucks poor start was too much to overcome, and they missed the playoffs. They hired Bruce Boudreau in December of last year and they played much better. However, they still did not qualify for the playoffs. Is the same thing happening again to Vancouver? Boudreau's job could be in jeopardy if things don't change quickly.
Vancouver still has two more road games as part of their road trip. They're in Columbus tonight and Minnesota on Thursday. There home opener is Saturday night against Buffalo. Can Vancouver turn things around by the end of the week?
