The Vancouver Canucks finally traded J.T. Miller, and after making another deal to bring in Elias Pettersson, the belief within the locker room is that they can now make a push in the Western Conference Wild Card race.
However, even after suggesting they won't be trading Elias Pettersson in the near future, General Manager Patrik Allvin may not be done wheeling and dealing, as there have now been suggestions that another player is available.
According to Elliotte Friedman, Vancouver have made the league aware that 6-foot-5 defenseman Carson Soucy is available for trade, with the team likely disappointed with his production and contributions to the team in what has been an overall poor year for the team.
With Marcus Pettersson, the team finally added to a blue line that's been desperate for depth, so it's likely that the front office would be looking for a defenseman in return for Soucy, but at this point, it's unclear exactly who they'd be targeting.
Friedman also didn't make clear how aggressive they were shopping the 30-year old veteran who has a -15 differential in 51 games played this season along with just 8 points, with the team needing much more punch from their blue line to get back into the Wild Card race.
With Brock Boeser and potentially Elias Pettersson still available, this is a team that could look very different in a few weeks time, but for now, the team will be focused on every game and getting every point they can, while the front office remains active in the market moving forward.
