The New York Rangers have turned their season around in recent times, but now they've suffered a major blow with Adam Edstrom going down with a major injury, with the team needing to make a major change on their fourth line as a result.

After months of drama, trades and speculation, the New York Rangers have steadied their downfall as of late, and now, they sit five points and four spots out of a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Unfortunately, they've now suffered a massive blow, with forward Adam Edstrom officially out for the next 2.5 to 3.5 months with a lower body injury, according to reporter Mollie Walker.

While Edstrom has just five goals and nine points in 51 games played this season, he has excelled in his role on the fourth line, as he has become a key piece to this Rangers forward group that have been up-and-down all season long.

At 24-years of age, Edstrom has been a very nice find for New York, and while he may miss the remainder of the 2024/25 season, he's likely going to play a huge role for their bottom-six for years to come.

After moving on from Filip Chytil, Kaapo Kakko and Jacob Trouba already this season, the Rangers core looks a little different, and with Edstrom now likely to be out for the remainder of the season with an injury, this will now result in another young forward and fresh face up front.

Whether that's Brennan Othmann, Matt Rempe or someone else that's set to replace him, this could derail their push for a Stanley Cup Playoffs spot, but if they can find the same type of production or perhaps even better as a result of the injury, there's always a chance that this team can get back into a post-season spot.
