Bruce Cassidy claims he was lied to by Bruins management
When the Boston Bruins announced they'd fired Bruce Cassidy it caught most people off guard. It turns out it also caught Cassidy himself off guard. Especially after Cassidy had reportedly been told his job was safe by Don Sweeney in his exit interview.
Cassidy was told he was safe during his season-ending exit meeting with upper management two weeks ago.
The firing has drawn attention to Don Sweeney's lack of success as General Manager. Sweeney's inability to draft well has hampered the Bruins ability to be competitive. It also hasn't been appreciated that a beloved coach was lied to by management.
With reports that David Pastrnak is unwilling to sign an extension with Don Sweeney in his current role it will be interesting to see what route the Bruins take going forward.
