Carey Price is without a doubt one of the most revered goaltenders of his generation, but even though he's still only 36 years old, his career came to an early end due to a chronic injury in 2021.
After a miracle run to the Stanley Cup Final with an overall subpar Canadiens' team, Price ended his career in a high note after being plagued with a severe knee injury. Price is technically still on the Habs' Injured Reserve being paid $10.5M for three more years, but is formally retired.
Speaking to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman recently, Price revealed details of his life dealing with this chronic injury. Price says that he mostly feels fine, but is occasionally in pain due to the knee, and is reminded why he could never return to hockey.
After being drafted 5th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Price went on to play 712 games with the Montreal Canadiens, with an incredible 2.51 GAA and a .917 save percentage over his career.
