Carolina Hurricanes trade Tony DeAngelo to a divisional rival
The Carolina Hurricanes took a chance on a disgruntled Tony DeAngelo and it paid off. DeAngelo put up 51 points in 64 games and filled the opening left when Dougie Hamilton left for New Jersey last summer. But after a breakout season it became clear that the Hurricanes wouldn't be capable of signing DeAngelo.
Today the Hurricanes made the decision to move DeAngelo. Enter the Philadelphia Flyers who are looking to jump start their rebuild and do it quickly.
It's DeAngelo and a 7th to Philly. As reported, Canes get 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks which are spread out over next three years
It's clear that the Flyers are looking to be competitive and it wouldn't be shocking to see the Flyers take a run at Johnny Gaudreau's rights today as they try and find some additional scoring.
The Flyers immediately signed DeAngelo to a 2-year extension.
