Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Jake McCabe has played over 450 games in the NHL. The minute eating defender has been part of a lot of losing since entering the league and has not appeared in one playoff game.

Drafted 44th overall in 2012 by the Buffalo Sabres. McCabe was part of some dark days in Buffalo. Since signing for Chicago in 2021 the losing ways have carried over.

Despite all the losses McCabe has played pretty well for the Blackhawks this season. In 31 games he has 1 goal and 9 points. He has a plus minus of two which is pretty impressive when you consider his current defensive partner Seth Jones is a -23.

Despite the success this season, McCabe is finding no solace in it.

«I don't really give a shit about my personal stats, to be honest with you ... It's all about the team and all about winning. I've lost a lot in this league, and it's getting pretty old. So I wouldn't say that I'm by any means satisfied if I'm playing good or not. It depends on how we're doing as a team.»

McCabe is signed for two more seasons after this one, at at cap hit of $4 million AAV. GM Kyle Davidson could explore the possibility of cashing in on McCabe's solid season to bring in more assists for the rebuild.
