The Colorado Avalanche have made another move to bolster the depth of their forward group by trading for Artturi Lehkonen from the Montreal Canadiens.
Lehkonen, 26 years old, has 29 points in 58 games this year, and makes $2.3M until the end of this year. In addition to his decent offensive output, Lehkonen is known for his elite defensive play and ability to drive an elite third line.
Colorado will give up Justin Barron and a second round draft pick in 2024 to Montreal in the deal. Barron, a first round selection of the Avalanche, is a highly touted defensive prospect.
This trade satisfies both teams' needs, giving Montreal a draft pick and prospect, while Colorado boosts their lineup with a high end bottom six forward.
