Connor Bedard has had the spotlight squarely on him since before he entered the National Hockey League and rightfully so. The next generational talent has played just one game in the NHL and yet, he's already setting records. The Connor Bedard effect in full force.
Last night when Bedard made his debut against the Pittsburgh Penguins, ESPN set a regular season record for viewership as 1.43 million people watched; take a look.
Bedard is the best NHL prospect to spect since Connor McDavid and people are wanting to see how the next phenom fairs in his first NHL season.
If nothing else, the hype around the recently turned 18 year old is something we've never seen before.
Let's hope for his sake and the NHL's sake that he can live up to the hype like he's done through every step of his career.
There's a new face of the league, breaking an ESPN audience record proves it.
