I guess if there's any lesson in all of this, it's that getting dropped from two NHL teams doesn't mean your career is over.

According to reports out of Russia, Mitchell Miller is about to sign a new deal with Ak Bars Kazan of the KHL. Miller is currently playing in Slovak Extraliga.

As SE has learned, Ak Bars will sign a contract with American defender Mitchell Miller. Now the 21-year-old hockey player plays for the Slovak Liptovsky Mikulas. - Sport-express.ru

Miller is a player that comes with a ton of baggage. The defenceman was initially drafted into the NHL by the Arizona Coyotes in 2020. It was short-lived, as Arizona relinquished all rights to Miller after details of his past, which included severe bullying of a former classmate, came to light. Two years later, the Boston Bruins shocked the hockey world by announcing they had signed Miller to an entry-level contract. Again, it was short-lived as Miller was dropped from the deal a few months later following heavy backlash. He did receive financial compensation from Boston.

The KHL is known for taking players that most other leagues wouldn't touch. That list currently includes Brenden Leipsic, Alex Galchenyuk, and Reid Boucher.
