High hits are dangerous always, but when you connect with a players jaw, it becomes so much worse. Those intentional hits are what the National Hockey League needs to get rid of.
Tonight when the Washington Capitals took on the Vegas Golden Knights at home, Vegas forward Paul Cotter caught Evgeni Kuznetsov up high; take a look.
Paul Cotter was given a match penalty and ejected for this hit on Evgeni Kuznetsov
Cotter was assessed a 5-minute major and a game misconduct on the play and was sent to the locker room early.
This is the kind of hit the NHL absolutely needs to get out of the game, it's predatory, Cotter leads with his elbow and connects with Kuznetso's jaw.
I would say it's an automatic call from the Department of Player Safety, but no one really knows anymore.
