Sometimes it's hard not to get romantic about the game we love so much. This is in fact one of those emotional, bigger than the game moments that we sometimes hear about. The Anaheim Ducks were in Tampa Bay last night to face off against the two time defending Stanley Cup Champions.

What made this game special? Well last night would mark the last time Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry would ever share an NHL ice surface together. Perry and Getzlaf created an instant bind when they were drafted by the Ducks. They went on to win the 2007 Stanley Cup together with the Ducks.

After salary cap issues and faltering in his play, Perry ended up being bought out and ultimately signed as a free agent with the Dallas Stars.

To start the evening, Lightning center, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare stepped aside and let winger Perry take the opening faceoff against his good friend.

Things really got emotional after the game, when the Tampa Bay Lightning players showed their respect to Getzlaf. Afterwards, Perry and Getzlaf would embrace at center ice in an emotional goodbye.
