Dallas Stars head coach is furious after Dmitry Orlov gets away with a clear elbow to the face (Video)
The Dallas Stars and Washington Capitals faces off in Dallas Thursday night. The Stars would win the game 2-0, on the back of a Jake Oettinger shutout. During the second period of the game there was a controversial non-call.
As Stars forward Mason Marchment crosses the Capital's blueline he makes a move on defender Dmitry Orlov. Marchment looks to make a move to go around Orlov, but the defender throws up his arm and nails Marchment with an elbow to the face. Marchment falls to the ice and the play is immediately blown dead.
Many in attendance and the broadcasters assumed as the referees came together it was to determine if the penalty would be a major or a minor penalty. That wasn't the case though. It turns out that the referees on the ice simply blew the whistle because Marchment appeared to be injured.
When Pete DeBoer was informed there was no penalty on the play he was incensed. It's clear on the play that Orlov catches Marchment with an elbow, so it's hard to argue with DeBoer here.
