Darnell Nurse tells an embarrassing lie about his headbutt on Philip Danault
Darnell Nurse is done serving his 1-game suspension for headbutting Kings' Philip Danault during Game 5. Nurse was ineligible for Game 6, but returns tonight for Game 7. The headbutt was unpenalized on the play, but George Parros felt it was indeed a suspendable offense.
During his pre-game media availability Nurse answered questions from the media. One of the questions he received was about the Danault headbutt and Nurse's answer was somewhat surprising:
I didn't intend to hit a guy in the head. There was no intent on my part.
Despite Nurse's claim, the idea he didn't mean to headbutt Danault is ridiculous and one that's difficult to respect him for. If Nurse had of simply owned up to his actions it would have been a much more respectable approach. But it is likely that Nurse took this defense with NHL DoPS and is simply trying to tow the line he's already set for himself.
