Darryl Sutter claims that the league is rigged for the Toronto Maple Leafs
Saturday night, the Calgary Flames traveled to Toronto for a matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The two teams played a back and forth game, which was ultimately decided in overtime. The Leafs would come out on top winning the game 5-4, off of a Mitch Marner powerplay goal.
Marner's powerplay goal was the Leafs 3rd powerplay goal of the game, on their 6th opportunity. After the game Darryl Sutter had some very critical comments about the officiating and their favoritism.
That's one thing I learned a long time ago when you're in Chicago all those years and you come into Toronto, you know what goes on. I won't say nothing more.
It's strange to hear Sutter make these comments, especially after last night in Columbus, when the Blue Jackets were given 7 powerplay opportunities. It's also a strange thought because over the last 5 years the Leafs rank 28th in powerplay opportunities per game.
The Leafs lack of playoff success is also a clear indicator that the league has vested interest in the Maple Leafs succeeding. It's looking more like Sutter is just a coach trying to save his job at this point.
