Detroit Red Wings defender needs help off the ice after scary collision with net
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings are facing off in Sweden this afternoon as part of the NHL's 2023 Global Series.
With the game scoreless in the second period, Toronto was pressing in the Detriot zone to score the game's first goal. Auston Matthews had the puck behind the Red Wings net and fired a pass into the slot for Mitch Marner. As Marner fires the puck at the goal, Detriot's defenceman Jake Walman loses his footing and crashes into the Red Wings net knocking the goal out of place.
Walman needed help off the ice and hasn't returned to the game.
