Sunday afternoon the Detroit Red Wings made they announcement that they will be without forward Filip Zadina for the foreseeable future due to a lower-body injury.

Derek Lalonde didn't have anything official on Red Wings F Filip Zadina (hit in the leg by a shot Saturday), but said that something is broken, and it's a matter of months, not weeks, for his return.

Zadina was injured in Detroit's 3-0 win on Saturday against the New York Islanders. The 22 year old, blocked a shot off his leg from Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock.

Speaking with reporters postgame following their overtime victory over the Rangers today, head coach Derek Lalonde said:

"I don't think we're going to see him for a while. I don't (have) the complete word but (it's) not good. We'll know more tomorrow."

It's been a slow start to the season for Zadina who has been held pointless through 9 games, while averaging 14 minutes a night. He's in the first season of a three-year, $1,825,00 million AAV bridge contract. $1,825,00 million AAV

This is another obstacle the former sixth overall pick from the 2018 draft, will have to overcome to make an impact at the NHL level.
