Dylan Strome is going viral for the incredible Christmas gift he gave to his daughter
Hockey is one of the most physically demanding sports in the world. The 82 game schedule is difficult on your body and the physicality of the game takes its toll. But the most difficult portion of that 82 game schedule is the 41 games teams must play on the road. This is especially tough on families who are forced to be apart for long stretches of time.
Dylan Strome and his wife Tayler gave birth to their first daughter in March of 2021. Unfortunately for Dylan that birth fell directly during the NHL season, which meant continued travel for the duration of the year. Over the summer Strome signed with the Washington Capitals after spending parts of 4 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks.
With his daughter now 2-years-old Dylan came up with an incredible way to try and teach his daughter about why her dad has to come and go so frequently. So how did Dylan do it? Well he created a book for her called "Daddy Goes to Work". The book explains what her dad does for a living and why he has to spend so much time away from home.
This incredible gift continues to show the incredible people that hockey players are and the steps they'll take to ensure their family is taken care of. Hopefully Dylan is able to turn his 1-year deal with the Caps into a long-term contract so the entire Strome family can find some stability.
