Jack Campbell has had an interesting career up to this point. Campbell has been a late bloomer, only finally becoming a starting goalie last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Campbell and the Leafs finished second in the Atlantic Division.
After feeling disrespected by the Leafs contract offer, Campbell decided to test the open market for the first time in his career. He was able to secure the bag, signing a contract with the Edmonton Oilers at $5,000,000 per season for 5 years, the deal also includes a Modified No Trade Clause.
At that price, Edmonton was expecting to find the oh so elusive goalie they've been searching for. But after the first month of the season, things aren't seeming what they were hoping for.
In 10 games played this season, Jack Campbell has a .873 save percentage which a lot of fans are starting to question. He's also been averaging 4.27 goals against per game and is not making the job any easier for the team up front.
Now obviously this is only but a 10 game sample size but it still begs the question. Is Campbell going to end up being a signing that the Edmonton Oilers are going to regret? Or is there more to come from Jack Campbell?
