NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman reports that the Edmonton Oilers are still looking for a forward up front to replace Evander Kane who is on injured reserve. The Oilers currently sit in fourth place in the Pacific division. The Oilers already have offensive weapons up front in McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, and Hyman.

Outside of those four forwards, the rest of the Oilers have struggled to find any consistent offense. Particularly from their third and four lines. Perhaps Edmonton could be interested in forwards like Max Domi, Josh Anderson, or Tyler Bertuzzi. Of Course, Edmonton will have to send something back as compensation in return for any of those type of players. Without balanced scoring, good team defense, and consistent goaltending, the Oilers could struggle to make the post season.

I could understand why General Manager Ken Holland is looking for another forward up front. The lack of scoring after their second line is troubling. However, Edmonton's needs go well beyond scoring. Jack Campbell has not played well and Edmonton's defense has been soft. It will be interesting to see how Ken Holland tries to address these issues. For Edmonton's sake, hopefully he does not trade away all the clubs draft picks and prospects to address their needs.
