There is no more successful Hockey Family than the Sutter Brothers. Brian Sutter had a very solid career in the NHL, playing 12 seasons before transitioning to a coaching role. Sutter coached 13 additional seasons in the NHL, but the veteran has finally decided to call it a career.
Sutter has officially announced that he will be stepping down and away from the game officially to focus on his family life. Sutter sat down with Mountain View Today to talk about his decision on why it's time to call it quits.
The players make commitments to come and play, and so I owe it to them to be there all the time. I didn't feel it was right that I was going to call once in a while and say I couldn't be there. That's the biggest thing for me. I didn't want to say I was going to be there and then once in a while not be there. I'm not that type of person. I know when you make a commitment to something you need commitment to it all the way.
Brian Sutter has had a great run, playing his entire career for the St-Louis Blues. Upon his retirement Sutter was immediately named Head Coach of the Blues. During his coaching career Sutter had coaching stints with St. Louis, Boston, Calgary and Chicago before he left the NHL.
Sutter recently stepped down from coaching a Men's Senior League the Innisfail Eagles before deciding it was time to call it a career. We wish him the best in his retirement.
