Former NHL All-Star makes an incredibly bold statement about Connor McDavid
To say what you're about to read is a controversial take is an understatement. This week former NHL Enforcer turned Podcaster, John Scott had some incredibly bold comments about Connor McDavid and whether he'd want to build a team around the Superstar.
Connor McDavid is the best player in the world. But, if I'm building a team right now, he's not in my top 5 picks.
Scott went on to clarify his comments with a later Twitter post.
Kucherov. MacKinnon. Hedman, Makar. Maybe Bergeron?
Am I crazy? Skills alone only get you so far, as we've seen
Getting carved up for this one!
Let me clarify.
McDavid is unbelievable and obviously every team would be better with him on it. I never said I don't want him on my team.
That said, playoffs are a grind. There are a handful of players who «do it all» a little better than him.
Building a franchise, Connor is #1. But for a deep playoff run, there are a few guys I might take ahead of him.
I don't think this is that controversial of a take.
Scott spent 8 seasons in the NHL and In 8 years and 286 games, Scott totaled 544 PIMS, 11 career points, and was nominated to an All-Star Game by the fans, despite league apprehension.
So the question becomes is Scott onto something or is he just looking for clicks?
