Former World Junior player passes away at 26-years-old
In what has already been a sad summer for the hockey world, today we have learned of the passing of another former hockey player. Today the girlfriend of former World Junior Champion, Michele Basso shared the sad news of his passing.
Basso was 26 and had long been struggling with a bone sarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer which begins in the bone. Basso was a former member of the Italian World Junior Championship team. He also played defense in the Italian league.
Basso was a member of ltalia Hockey's U18 team in 2014-15, before moving up to the country's U20 team in 2015-16.
Basso played 11 games with Asiago in the Italian League in 2015-16.
