Giroux reportedly blocks a trade to 2 Eastern Conference teams
There were lots of different reports that came out after Claude Giroux finished playing his 1000th career game, all with the Philadelphia Flyers. There were many reports that a deal was done with the Florida Panthers that included 2017 1st round pick, Owen Tippett heading the other way among other assets. Late last night those reports were debunked with the Colorado Avalanche still in the fight for Giroux.
Reports are coming out that Claude Giroux has blocked any potentials deal to the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers. With all the battles against those two teams in Giroux's career maybe he can't see himself putting on the enemy colors or could it be that he doesn't view them as actual contenders?
The 34-year old Giroux is staying in Philadelphia while management continue to sort out a potential deal instead of flying with his teammates to Ottawa where they play the Senators Friday night. His career with the Flyers appears to be over for now but he will go down as probably the 2nd best Flyer ever behind Bobby Clarke.
