It's been no secret that these last couple of weeks have been a rough time for NHL referees. Almost every night there's a controversial play that affects the outcome of the game and players are getting tired of it.
In Thursday nights game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes, a Leafs player was caught on a hot mic telling a referee how he felt about their officiating after the officials blew an obvious tripping call that prevented the Leafs' from an odd man rush chance.
The microphone clearly picks up Mitch Marner:
Let's fucking call it fucking even
It's pretty clear that everyone is getting a little frustrated with the refereeing in the NHL at this point and it truly appears that the NHL have no intentions to fix it.
