When I think of the Montreal Canadiens, I think of three names, Maurice «Rocket» Richard, Jean Beliveau and Guy Lafleur. The latter is unfortunately in an ongoing battle with lung cancer. You'd think that would stop him from wanting to give back, right? Wrong. Still in the latter part of his life with all his health struggles, Lafleur still wants to give back and use his voice.

Even when his body is ravaged by cancer as his body is overwhelmed by sickness, Lafleur still finds a way to comfort others

When asked how he feels, Lafleur shared:

It's rough, it's painful.

My weight has dropped to 169 pounds. That doesn't make any sense

Lafleur also shared that he no longer takes any medications because he wants to enjoy the quality of life that he has left.

I no longer take any medication. I dropped all that at Christmas. I want to have a good quality of life. I take life as is

Lafleur also shared the following about his friend Mike Bossy:

Mike was a really honest guy.

He was playing for his team, he was not a one man show . He was a guy who did everything to win. What was important to him was the victory.

I'm proud to have rubbed shoulders with him with Team Canada (it was at the 1981 Canada Cup tournament). Mike had an influence on several players. Many young players were inspired by him.

Lafleur, a Canadiens legend spent 14 of his 17 NHL seasons in Montreal. In 961 games played for the Canadiens, he had 518 goals and 728 assists for a total of 1,246 points including 5 Stanley cups with Montreal.
