Hockey Canada made an embarrassing attempt to win back sponsors
Hockey Canada is currently embroiled in multiple scandals. The organization has refused to make full scale changes and current executives have refused calls for their resignation. The lack of action has caused dozens of sponsors to withdraw their support of Hockey Canada.
If you watched the most recent World Juniors tournament you maybe have noticed the boards were lacking sponsors. Companies like Canadian Tire, Telus and others pulled their support of the tournament in an attempt to invoke change. But up until now Hockey Canada has refused.
Ultimately though money is all that matters to an organization like Hockey Canada and according to the Globe and Mail that was recently on display. According to the Globe and Mail, Hockey Canada recently reached out to corporations to try and compromise to receive sponsorship dollars.
Hockey Canada recently approached major sponsors to gauge whether ousting some top executives and board members would be enough to win back their support and sponsorship dollars. But sponsors have said wholesale change is needed at the organization.
As organizations are looking for full scale changes, Hockey Canada simply approach their sponsors in an attempt to sacrifice certain members in exchange for sponsorship dollars. Further proving Hockey Canada's corruption at the core.
