Insider reveals the real reason the Minnesota Wild didn't trade Matt Dumba at the Trade Deadline
At last year's Trade Deadline, Matt Dumba's name was all over the rumor mill. With Dumba expected to become an unrestricted free agent the Minnesota Wild made the decision to try and recoup some assets for Dumba. However, when the 3 pm deadline rolled around Dumba was still a member of the Minnesota Wild.
So why was Dumba still a member of the Wild?
According to Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff the actual reason Dumba remained on the Wild is because they had ZERO interest in his services.
This trend seemed to roll over to this summer's free agent frenzy. With so many available players Dumba ultimately ended up being an afterthought for most teams. Dumba ultimately ended up signing a 1-year deal with the Arizona Coyotes, a far cry from the expected interest in the defender.
